Christsmas 5 A- Side Indoor Football & Cricket Tournament 2011

The Annual Christmas 5 a side indoor Football & 6 A-side Cricket Tournament , Now in its 11^th year, organised by Blackburn United FC and supported by Young People Services took place on Saturday 24^th , Sunday 25th & Monday 26th December @ Audley Sport centre, Chester Street, Blackburn.

The tournament provides an opportunity to those who don’t play sport on regular bases to participate in a safe, secure and organised environment and enjoy a day of sporting and fun activities. The day also helps to develop a better understanding between teachers from mosques and Islamic schools with children from different areas of the Borough..

In total over 50 teams participated in the Football & Cricket tournament, with teams from all areas of Blackburn, contributing to a competitive, but sporting and fun weekend of football and Cricket.

A big thank you to all the Blackburn United FC volunteers, specially Saeed Patel , Shufiyan Patel , Hafiz Yahya and all the staff and parents from various mosques and Madrassas who helped on the day to make the tournament a big success.

New Academy @ Space Centre

The Blackburn United F C Football Academy , in partnership with I B Promotions & Tauheedul Islam Girls High School & Six Form College will continue to run from 7^th January 2012 at Audley Junior School Sport & Art Centre (Space Centre), Queens Park Road, Blackburn.It is open to all boys & girls ages 6 to 13 years old.

The sessions operate on Saturday mornings and there are two sessions, led by qualified coaches according to the age group:

10:30 am – 11:30 am- Age 6 to 9 yrs old
11:30 am - 12:30 pm - Age 10 to 13yrs old

Skilled coaches from Blackburn United will support the sporting development of the participants. This is a unique opportunity for your son/ daughter to participate in sport in a healthy, safe and structured manner. There will also be prospect of your child being part of the BUFC teams that play in the East Lancashire football Alliance Youth League. I hope that you will encourage your child to participate and support him/her in doing so by staying for all or part of the duration of the sessions.

To contribute towards the cost of the sessions each child will be asked to bring £1 per session.

If you are interested and want to join Blackburn United Football Club or learn new skills from the best coaches ,just turn up on Saturday mornings.

Halal Lifestyles Academy- 25th July to 28th July 2011

A unique four days of activities organised by Blackburn United Football club, in partnership with Tauheedul Islam Girls High School & Six Form College and IB Promotions took place at St.Michael with St.Johns Primary School (Galaxy Centre All Weather Pitch). Aptly named Halal Lifestyles Academy, the four days incorporated Cricket & Football coaching with Ramadhan Preparation programme delivered by local scholars.

Some 60 children participated in sport in a healthy, safe and structured manner and were very pro active in the talks delivered by the scholars from Tauheedul.

It was pleasing to see parents engaging and encouraging the children to take part in sport and organisers were constantly asked when the next one will take place. Iqbal Bhai, coordinator for the activities said ‘it was a huge success and very well received by both the parents and children. Big thank to the coaches, Rafiq Mogra, Nabil Patel, Adam Brown, Hamid Iqbal and Tauheedul Islam Girls High School ,specially Mufti Hameed, Moulanna Munir and Moulanna Talha and very grateful to St Michael With St John’s school for use of the facilities.’

If you would like your son to take part in similar activities the Blackburn United Academy will continue to run at St.Micheal with St.Johns Galaxy Centre ,Sessions operate on Saturday Mornings 9.00am -10.00 for children age from 6 to 9 years, 10.00 to 11.00am for children age from 10 to12 years, 11.00 to 12.00pm ages 13 to 14 years.
